The Baby Boomers have been among the most active of generations. Now they are noticing joint problems and some are even experiencing chronic pain. Pain is such a strong motivator that encourages them to try anything to get rid of it. As a result, more and more older adults are looking beyond conventional medicine to achieve greater comfort from a source other than the pill bottle.
Those with chronic illness are realizing the conventional medical clinic isn’t necessarily the way to go and are turning to alternative medicine specialties such as chiropractic, homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicine, naturopathy, aromatherapy, massage therapy, meditation and a whole litany of gadgets and machines.
The medical community’s big concern aside from the loss of income is that some of these alternative therapies have not been tested in studies for effectiveness or safety, and there are a large number of older adults that use them. Of particular note are the diagnostic and treatment machines that abound on the market.
Ohio State University researchers did a study that showed more 70 percent of older adults used some sort of alternative treatment in the year 2000. In 2002, in a follow-up study, 62 percent of all adults admitted to using some sort of alternative treatment, which shows a growing trend among all adults to seek alternatives.
As the level of discomfort increases and the level of effective medical treatment diminishes, people are seeking whatever means they are attracted to that works. In the last few years, many people have been experimenting with zero-point energy wands for example and finding surprising relief from symptoms. Many of the recovery stories have been amazing, much to the dismay of the medical community.
As inventors bring more and more products into the marketplace, there are many willing hands waiting to try them, especially if they are effective in relieving symptoms. Discomfort is nothing to sneeze at and people are willing to part with their money for effective therapies, even something as out there as zero-point energy wands.
